Feliks Topolski was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1907. He studied at the Warsaw academy of art, and moved to London in 1935, when he was commissioned to record the silver jubilee of King George V. In 1975 Topolski opened his studio in the railway arches a stones-throw from Waterloo station. His career led him to paint and illustrate a huge variety of events and characters – including WWII, the coronation of Elizabeth II, Malcolm X, and HG Wells.
Fast-forward to November 2013, and our bar and venue is opening in his name. His final works, the epic Chronicles, Adorn our walls. Bar Topolski is a unique space in the heart of the cultural lungs of England.
